Install the Printofor plugin
Set up the WooCommerce-native gang sheet builder in your store in seven steps. You only need to do the connection steps once.
Recommended. Download it from your Printofor account: it already carries your shop's connection details, so there is nothing to copy by hand.
No account yet, or installing without one? Download the public plugin (v0.2.37) and connect it by hand in step 3.
-
Check the requirements
Confirm your environment before you begin.
- WordPress 6.2 or newer.
- WooCommerce installed and active (the plugin will not activate without it).
- PHP 8 or newer.
Note. If WooCommerce is missing, activation stops with a clear error and the plugin stays inactive. Install WooCommerce first. -
Install and activate the plugin
Use the personal plugin ZIP from your Printofor account (the download on its dashboard). It already carries your shop's connection details.
- Go to
Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP, then click Install. - Click Activate. A
Printoforadmin menu appears with Overview, Print queue, Design gallery, Settings and Legal. With the personal ZIP the connection settings are already filled in.
Keep the personal ZIP private. It contains your shop's secret. Do not share it, attach it to bug reports or install it on a store that belongs to another Printofor account. - Go to
-
Check the connection
Open
Printofor > Overviewand click Check connection. With the personal ZIP this is the only thing to do here.Installed the public plugin instead? Open your Printofor account, go to Plugin credentials and generate them. In WordPress, open
Printofor > Settings, copy all four fields exactly as shown in your account, save, then click Check connection.- Builder Service URL: copy the value from your account, normally
https://app.printofor.com. - Engine API Base URL: copy it from your account, normally
https://app.printofor.com. Do not add/apito the URL. - API Secret: this shop's secret for engine authentication, as provisioned in your account. It is not the engine master secret.
- Shop ID: copy it from the same account as the API Secret. Replace any automatically generated value before connecting; the ID and the secret must belong to the same store.
Check before continuing. OpenPrintofor > Overviewand click Check connection. If it fails, follow the message and check the four saved fields. Never leave the secret blank for a live store. - Builder Service URL: copy the value from your account, normally
-
Create and enable a gang sheet product
On any WooCommerce product, open the Printofor tab in the Product data panel.
- Tick Enable Printofor builder. The builder then replaces the standard add-to-cart area on that product.
- Set the product price and the Printofor pricing settings, then save the product.
- Choose the Product path mode: Build (open the builder), Upload (the customer uploads a ready file) or Both.
- Set Roll width presets (inches), a comma-separated list such as
22,24. Leave it blank to offer all supported widths (22, 24 and 23.62 in). - Optionally set a Default sheet length (inches) to pre-fill the builder; leave it blank to let nesting determine the length.
-
Optional: your design gallery and store extras
Open
Printofor > Design galleryto upload designs your customers can use in the builder. Changes save automatically.Under
Printofor > Settings, turn on the extras that fit your shop. You can leave them off while testing your first order.- Cutoff countdown: a live same-day production countdown on product pages, with your cutoff time and an after-cutoff message.
- Loyalty earn display: shows the points or credits earned, at a rate you set.
- Social proof: star rating, review count and up to six trust badges near the buy button.
- Lead capture popup: an email capture popup that reveals an existing WooCommerce coupon code.
- Canva import: adds an Import from Canva button (the engine needs the Canva credentials set).
- SMTP: sends transactional email through your own SMTP host instead of the site default.
-
Place a test order and generate print files
Run one order end to end to confirm the full flow.
- Open your enabled product, design a sheet in the builder and add it to the cart.
- Complete checkout as a customer would. The layout is stored with the order.
- Open the order and run the
Generate print files (Printofor)order action. Download the print files from the order items panel orPrintofor > Print queue. A separate white underbase is included only when the selected RIP preset needs one.
Export needs the engine URL. If the action reports it is not configured, set the Engine API Base URL in step 3 before retrying. -
Go live
Your Printofor terms were accepted when you bought your plan;
Printofor > Legallinks to them. Before inviting customers, check your test order's price, artwork, print dimensions and download on the equipment you use. Automatic delivery to a RIP hotfolder is a separate setup; downloading files manually is enough to test the first order.Open the product in a private browser window to check what customers see. On a new WooCommerce store, check
WooCommerce > Settings > Site visibility: customers cannot browse a store that is still in Coming soon mode.
